“It would seem that everything that comes through my mailbox that has the Maloka Distro logo printed somewhere on it is really good. Now I can add ULRIKE’S DREAM to that list“, wrote a guy called Backwoodsvegan in Profane Existance.

“Muzikaal gezien worden we getrakteerd op goed verzorgde punk in een pittig hardcore/metal jasje. Spaarzame uitstapjes worden er gemaakt naar relaxte reggae/ska (Thanks For Nothing) of mainstream popmuziek (Kraken Gaat Door, met z’n drie minuut 40 een lang nummer binnen het repertoire). Deze vormen welverdiende rustpuntjes als afwisseling naast al het punkgeweld. Mocht dit de indruk wekken dat er door Ulrikes Dream alleen maar blind geramd wordt, dat is zeker niet het geval: de nummers bevatten onderling genoeg variatie om te blijven boeien. De gitaar neemt brutaal de hoofdrol voor zijn rekening, zelfs een solo wordt niet geschuwd. De afwisseling over het gehele album zorgt er voor dat dit een prima beluisterbare cd is geworden die geen enkel moment verveelt. Door de brute uitvoering ook uitstekend geschikt voor metalfans“, wrote WingsofDeath.

“Het titelnummer vind ik qua tekst en muziek zo sterk en aansprekend dat de tranen me erbij in de ogen schieten, het zal wel jeugdsentiment zijn. Ulrikes Dream raakt me diep, ondanks de betrekkelijke eenvoud van tekst en muziek. Ik heb genoten en hoop dat er meer mensen te vinden zijn die dit weten te waarderen.” Remi Peterse, Zware Metalen.

Maximum Rock’n’Roll (#340, september 2011) wrote “This Belgian outfit plays intelligent and captivating political punk fronted with wonderful female vocals, but there’s an overall dominating metal sound that I can’t figure out if I like or not. I usually can’t stand anything too metal, but there’s some interesting variation going on here that keeps me listening, like amazing drumming, a voice that switches from beautifully me¬ lodic to frenzied and pissed, and several perfectly placed guitar riffs. A few tracks are straight up punk thrash, but most are sort of metallic crust with a few even bordering on grindcore; almost all build in intensity as they develop, sometimes jumping from mellow to maniacal, which I really dig.
